We are pleased to announce our participation in the upcoming conference, “Research and Innovation in Africa: a driver for development and partnerships,” scheduled for 13 September 2023. The onsite and online event will be held at the Permanent Representation of France to the EU in Brussels.
The role of Research & Innovation (R&I) as catalysts for sustainable partnerships and development cannot be overstated. They serve as crucial tools for creating viable solutions to global challenges such as climate change and help strengthen the research capacities of partner countries, enabling them to develop appropriate responses to these challenges.
The conference aims to discuss the role of R&I in fostering partnerships between the European Union and partner countries, with a special focus on African countries. It seeks to brainstorm on the implementation of R&I policies, give visibility to European expertise in the field, promote dialogue between research organisations and the European Commission, and mobilize organisations for the implementation of the Global Gateway strategy.
DeSIRA-LIFT’s Project Director, Helena Posthumus, will partake as a speaker in Round Table 3. This segment of the conference will discuss the operational aspects, and lessons learned, of specific R&I instruments – such as DeSIRA and DeSIRA-LIFT- set up by the European Commission to bolster strategic partnerships with key R&I actors in African countries.
