A particular focus of DeSIRA-LIFT’s advisory work is to support and promote agroecological pathways as a viable transition option for sustainable agri-food systems in Africa. As part of this work, DeSIRA-LIFT has organised several online exchanges between the European Commission and African partners (AFAAS, FARA, ASARECA, CCARDESA, CORAF, RUFORUM, AUC, and a number of African experts) on shared Research & Innovation priorities.
Among these exchanges were three Deep Dive Dialogues organised by DeSIRA-LIFT in June and July 2022. The topics addressed included biodiversity loss and agrobiodiversity, biosolutions and digitalisation for smallholder farmers in Africa. The three knowledge briefs – which are available for download below – summarise the content of these Dialogues and are expected to feed into the formulation of activities or research and innovation projects funded by the European Commission.
