DeSIRA LIFT Service Area 2 aims to increase the capacities of African regional and continental AIS actors in fulfilling their mandates, engaging in policy dialogue and establishing regional and international partnerships.
DeSIRA LIFT Service Area 2 (SA2) support is mainly geared towards African apex organisations for research on agricultural development (CORAF, ASARECA, CCARDESA, and FARA), extensions (AFAAS) collectively known as CAADP-XP4 organisations and RUFORUM, the Global Forum for Agricultural Research (GFAR), and the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP) in their respective Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS) related roles, complementing and adding value to the EU-funded projects and initiatives managed by IFAD, FAO, and GFAR and other partners.
Assist CAADP-XP4 organisations in enhancing their capacities to support and manage strong Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS) that create impact.
Support CAADP-XP4 organisations and their member countries in order to provide effective input in the implementation of Malabo-CAADP commitments and the European Union-African Union (EU-AU) Research and Innovation partnership on Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA).
Strengthen connections with the AU-EU High Level Policy Dialogue on science, technology and innovation (HLPD) – FNSSA process on the African Agricultural Research for Development (AR4D) component.
Support in the development of effective, sustainable, and long-lasting multi-stakeholder partnerships between African and European organisations which address agricultural innovation systems with a focus on climate change.
